Life Transitions
Every path begins exactly where we are.
Therapy for healing, integration, self-understanding and more freedom in how you live and relate.
Most of us develop ways of protecting ourselves in response to what we've lived through. These adaptations may once have been necessary — even lifesaving — but over time they can leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and from others, caught in painful patterns, or unable to live as freely as we would like.
Therapy offers a chance to meet these adaptive parts with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment. But insight alone is rarely enough. Healing deepens when we can experience — not simply understand — the care our protective parts need.
You do not have to know the entire path before taking the first step.
In our work together, you can…
— Understand what old protective patterns have been trying to do for you
— Process painful experiences so they no longer define how you live
— Turn qualities that once helped you survive into strengths and gifts
— Relate to yourself and the people you love with more freedom
A focus of my practice
Couples Therapy in Mount Kisco & Westchester, NY
The dance is the problem. Neither partner is.
Couples can become caught in painful patterns of pursuing, withdrawing, criticizing, defending or shutting down. Over time these patterns can obscure the love that brought them together. Therapy helps you understand what happens between you when things go wrong — and create new ways of reaching, hearing and responding to one another.
Informed by attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) & the Gottman Method.

Meet Marisol Kaminski, LCSW
I believe healing happens in relationship.
For more than twenty years, I have had the privilege of sitting with people as they find their way through some of the most difficult — and sometimes most transformative — periods of their lives.
I don't approach therapy by asking, What's wrong with you? I am much more interested in understanding: What happened? What did you need? How did you learn to protect yourself? And what might become possible now?
