Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy in Mount Kisco & Westchester, NY
Meeting protective parts with curiosity, compassion and respect.
Internal Family Systems offers a way of understanding the different parts of ourselves that developed in response to our experiences. Instead of treating a protective response as something to eliminate, we become interested in what that part has been trying to do for us—and what it fears might happen if it stopped.

How Trauma Therapy Works
IFS also integrates naturally with my EMDR and somatic work, allowing us to respect the pace and protective wisdom of your whole system.
-
IFS and EMDR
IFS and EMDR work together to help us approach painful memories with care for the parts of you that may feel afraid or protective. By understanding their concerns and building trust, we create space to process difficult experiences at a pace that feels manageable.
-
IFS and Somatic Therapy
IFS and Somatic Therapy bring compassionate attention to both your inner world and your experience in your body. By noticing how different parts express themselves through sensations, tension, or movement, we deepen understanding of their needs and support a greater sense of safety and connection.

This is very common. Insight alone is rarely enough. Healing deepens when we can experience, not simply understand, the care our protective parts need. Sometimes healing happens through an experience that reaches somewhere words and insight alone cannot.
-
It depends on what brings you in and what you’re hoping for. Some people come for a focused period of time around a specific concern, while others find value in longer-term work. We’ll talk openly about your goals and check in along the way about how the work is going.
